What's for Dinner?

Today we had a bit of a challenge when it came to making dinner. We decided that we wanted to have Hot Tamale Pie from Foodwishes another great blog here on blogspot and you can find it at http://foodwishes.blogspot.com/2008/10/sacred-tamale-another-victim-of.html. But we have one small problem, we don't have 2 boxes of Jiffy corn bread mix. Plus we don't have a real grocery store in our small town of 2100 people, just a convenience store that carries select items at a higher than normal price. This is my mistake, I should have put Jiffy corn bread mix on the shopping list. So to compensate for this I made a batch of Sweet Corn Cakes from Allrecipes.com and here is the link for it http://allrecipes.com/recipe/sweet-corn-cakes/detail.aspx. So hubby cooked the Sacred Tamale part of the recipe while I made the Sweet Corn Cakes and then we combined them to have a wonderful  Hot Tamale Pie.
