Anybody up for a Game? Show that is
On this day in 1950, What's My Line began its seventeen year run on CBS. It was on the air in the United States, also Germany, Spain, UK, Brazil, as well as Brazil and Venezuela. There is no single factor in what made this show so popular. I suspect that it was the fact that TV was such a novel innovation at the time which few people had so far been exposed to, thus making the audience enthralled by any new type of programming that had an entertainment value to it. Plus you add the various appearances by celebrities of the day which made for even more interesting sport.
